For a local retail pack, check the brand, cigarette count, manufacture month/year and batch number, plus the prescribed Jamaica-sale label and warning. A duty-free carton quote is not the same as a local 20-pack price. A current exact Marlboro Red 20-pack price has not been verified.

The Essentials
The essentials first. Tap any answer for its explanation, sources and check date.
Tourist establishments are included in the public-place framework, while the amended balcony rules refer to rooms designated for non-smokers. The retained text does not settle permission inside a private guest bedroom. Do not treat the balcony exception or a smoking-room listing as proof that your exact bedroom permits cigarettes.

Most hotel guest-room balconies are smoke-free. The proprietor may exempt balconies for no more than 10% of the room stock, subject to ventilation, room-block, physical-separation and adult-only conditions. Get confirmation for your exact balcony; balcony permission never authorizes smoking inside the bedroom.

The amended framework excludes noncommercial privately occupied residences, but includes tourist establishments. The retained evidence does not settle the classification of your particular private serviced-apartment unit. Do not infer indoor permission from its residential appearance or from a balcony/outdoor smoking policy.

There is no general indoor smoking-lounge exception for a hotel’s enclosed public/workplace space. The exact guest-bedroom classification is not reliably resolved in the retained text. This guide therefore does not claim that a hotel may offer lawful indoor smoking; a compliant outdoor area is a separate option.

Smoking is prohibited in enclosed public places and workplaces, including enclosed passenger terminals. A compliant designated outdoor smoking area is a separate arrangement; its location and access must be checked with the airport.

Smoking is prohibited in the enclosed passenger terminal under national rules. A current designated outdoor smoking point, or its security-side access, has not been verified. Ask airport staff before passing security. An old airport map showing a smoking lounge is not proof of current availability.

Departure and arrival waiting areas at a port or station for any form of transport are expressly smoke-free, even when not enclosed. This includes a passenger station’s boarding and waiting areas.

Public conveyances are smoke-free, including passenger trains. The ministry expressly includes trains in its public-transport guidance.

Indoor public places and workplaces are smoke-free, including a commercial bar. There is no general indoor smoking-room exception in the retained rules. A business may instead provide a separate compliant outdoor smoking area; that does not permit smoking inside.

Outdoor dining and service areas are expressly smoke-free. A restaurant may establish a separate outdoor smoking area meeting all conditions, including 10 m separation, no service or entertainment, and no access by children. That is not permission to smoke at your terrace table.

Clubs are expressly included in the public-place definition and enclosed workplaces are smoke-free. A commercial visitor or members’ club cannot use membership alone to allow indoor smoking. A compliant, separate outdoor smoking area may be possible under the outdoor-area rules.

An ordinary open street is distinct from the listed smoke-free sites. Stay at least 5 m from entrances, exits, windows and ventilation intakes of smoke-free places. Do not smoke at bus stops, transport waiting areas, parks, outdoor dining areas or other restricted public-gathering sites.

Montego Bay’s beaches, parks and restaurant terraces are not automatically smoking areas. Use only expressly authorized exceptions; keep 5 m clear of smoke-free entrances and windows. A resort can prohibit smoking beyond the legal minimum. The evidence does not measure how often individual locations enforce the rules.

Outlook: Tightening
The government put the Tobacco Control Bill on its 2026/27 legislative agenda in May 2026. That signals further tobacco-control work, but this announcement does not establish an enacted new restriction or start date. The 2013 rules and 2014 amendments remain the framework assessed here.

Each answer shows its own check date and legal scope. Property policy, practical facilities and legal permission are checked separately. An edition date does not mean every claim was checked again.
Legally unclear means the question was researched but a reliable answer was not established. It is not permission.

Parks are expressly listed as smoke-free even when they are not enclosed. An ordinary open-air location does not remove that prohibition. The listed beach exception does not automatically extend to parks.

Montego Bay is a coastal beach destination. Beaches are normally smoke-free; the amended law permits an established outdoor smoking area meeting the full separation, no-service and adult-access conditions. Use only an identified compliant area, not an arbitrary patch of sand.
