Japan’s approved domestic tariff sets Marlboro Box (マールボロ・ボックス) at JPY620 for20 cigarettes in a hard pack, effective1April2026. Osaka retailer Kodama identifies the Box as red Marlboro (赤マル); a current retailer confirms the name and20-count. Kodama’s older notice supports naming, not today’s pack design. Duty-free/carton offers differ.

The current city guidance prohibits smoking while walking or cycling on roads in designated Tenjin-Daimyo and Hakata-station districts; standing in a crowd may also count. JR Kyushu stations are generally smoke-free, with specified smoking rooms including Hakata’s Shinkansen platform. Use only the designated room; this operator rule is separate from geographic law and permission on an open platform. Confirm current signs and access.
Outlook: Tightening
The city adopted an amendment on22June2026 expanding designated-district restrictions to all smoking in outdoor roads, parks and squares. Its checked14July notice still says commencement is undecided and old rules apply until then. This is adopted tightening awaiting commencement, not an already active citywide ban.

Fukuoka has coastal beaches, but the captured rules do not establish one citywide beach-smoking answer. The designated manager prohibits smoking in Momochi, Jigyohama and Atagohama seaside parks.
